  • Instructions for Use

Important Surface Prep Information: Make sure surface is clean and dry. Wipe away sand and dust with damp cloth. Repair underside of fabrics when practical.

    FOR PINHOLES:

Dab Sil Fix over hole and 1⁄4 “ (5mm) beyond to seal and stop fabric unraveling.

    FOR LARGER DAMAGED AREAS:

    1. Apply peel and stick patch to exterior surface of damaged area to create backing. Press to smooth out air bubbles.

    2. Turn fabric over and prep surface.

    3. Trim sil-nylon fabric swatch to size to cover damaged area and 1⁄4 “ (5mm) beyond.

    4. Apply Sil Fix over damaged area and 1⁄2 “ (10mm) beyond. Adhesive should extend beyond sil-nylon swatch on all sides for best bond.

    5. Center and apply sil-nylon fabric swatch. Smooth to eliminate air bubbles and press down edges.

    6. Allow to dry flat for 2 hours. Note: Sil Fix will continue to strengthen after curing.

    RE-ATTACH GUY OUT POINTS:

    1. Apply Sil Fix to webbing. Work into weave with brush.

    2. Attach webbing to tarp. Press to bond all areas.

    3. Apply coat of Sil Fix over strap and out onto tarp 1⁄4 inch (4 mm).

    4. Apply coat of Sil Fix on opposite side where fabric edge meets strap.

Tip: For even stronger repairs, wait one hour after step 2 and then stitch down edges of webbing. Then proceed to steps 3 and 4.

SEAMS: Apply Sil Fix to stop seams from separating. Note: For even more strength, allow Sil Fix to dry for 1 hour then add stitches along seam.

ABRASION AREAS: Apply Sil Fix to high wear areas. Smooth to thin even layer with patch backing. Sil Fix can also be used to attach a repair swatch of sil-nylon fabric over damaged area.

    How it works –

FAQ: What’s the difference between Sil Net, Seam Grip and Sil Fix?

Sil Fix™ – is our silicone-based repair adhesive for all silicone treated fabrics. It is a much stronger repair adhesive than Sil Net. Sil Fix is the best product to use for repairing tears, holes and damaged seams in sil nylon fabrics. Sil Fix won’t self level however, so it is not intended for seam sealing (it would leave a wavy, uneven finish). Sil Fix won’t bond properly to non-siliconized fabrics.

Sil Net™ – is our silicone-based seam sealer for all silicone treated fabrics. When applied to seams it will ‘self-level’ creating a smooth sealed seam. Sil Net is the best product to use to create good looking sealed seams on sil nylon tents, tarps and other items. Sil Net has only modest repair adhesive qualities (OK for pinholes). Sil Net won’t bond properly to non-siliconized fabrics.

Seam Grip® –is a urethane-based seam sealer and repair adhesive. Seam Grip is the best product to seal and repair all types of fabrics except those treated with silicone. Seam Grip self levels to create a good looking sealed seam. It is also an extremely strong repair adhesive. Seam Grip permanently seals and repairs tent, backpack, outerwear and footwear fabrics including PU coated fabrics, Gore Tex® fabric and more. Seam Grip won’t bond properly to sil nylon or other silicone treated fabrics.

    Testimonials –

"I own alot of silnylon and am gearing up for the AT. Saw a buddy patch his tent a couple years ago with this stuff and he says his tent is still rockin so I figured I might wanna nab one of these kits to store in my bounce box for the trail. Hopefully I won't need it but would rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it. It's tiny and light weight enough" - Daniel R.

"This is not a kit that you will use over and over or even for something bigger than a small repair job. It's pretty much got one of everything, but only enough for about 1-2 uses. In my case, it was the silicon patch repair. I cut it to the size of my needs, and saved the rest. Definitely worth $6 to fix a $300 tent."- Tom R., Covington

    Additional Customer Comments –

"Sil Nylon is an increasingly popular fabric for gear because it is really lightweight and super strong at the same time. When you get holes and tears the Sil Fix Kit fixes them permanently. It will work with any product that has a silicon coating on it including tents, tarps, packs, and clothes. At half an ounce, the kit it is a great thing to have, on the trail or waiting at home."
